You may be aware of the Aphorism,  “Create the things you wish existed ”.  I was 27 when my fertility journey started in 2015, and that was hard enough until later on when I experienced three pregnancy losses, and a PCOS diagnosis in 2021.  I came to the realisation that not only were there physical and emotional challenges of treatment, but also stark inequalities in Black women’s reproductive health outcomes. These realities were compounded by silence, stigma, and fragmented support especially among Black women and women of colour.

Maame Health was created to change that by bringing together personalised, culturally intelligent, evidence-based reproductive healthcare for individuals who are too often overlooked and dismissed by the healthcare system . We’re setting a new standard and framework for equitable, personalised healthcare that will tackle health disparities.

The Maame morals

Maame is a popular Ghanaian word and name meaning “mother” or “woman”,

Our core values and logo are inspired by the adrinka symbol “Obaatan Awaamu” that embodies care, compassion and empathy.

Community Driven

We achieve more together. By connecting stories, expertise, and lived experience, we harness collective strength to transform women’s health outcomes.

Culturally-intelligent

We listen, learn, and adapt. Our care is shaped by self-awareness, compassion, respect, and understanding of diverse worldviews— by ensuring every woman feels seen, heard, and supported in her cultural context.
